Symptoms and Causes of Jock Itch

As the name suggests, jock itch is a condition affecting us where we want it least. Jock itch specifically affects the groin, buttock and inner thigh area, and can affect both men and women.

Jock itch is a fungal infection which occurs when fungus grows in warm moist areas, and can be triggered by friction from clothes or sweating. It can also be transmitted by contaminated towels or spread from other infected body parts, such as the feet (Athletes Foot).

Common symptoms of Jock Itch:

A red rash with raised edges develops - usually on the groin, surrounding skin folds, inner thighs or buttocks

An extremely irritating and persistent itch in the groin area

Burning sensation around the affected area in some cases
